Overview
James & Partners Talent is working with a growing financial services group that is looking to appoint a bright and ambitious Junior Private Wealth Manager / Family Office Associate.
This is an excellent development opportunity for someone who wants exposure to private wealth management, discretionary investment management, family office work and succession planning within a sophisticated financial services environment.
The role is not a pure administrative support position. It is intended for someone with enough technical ability, maturity and commercial curiosity to support client work properly, work closely with senior decision makers, and grow into greater advisory or relationship responsibility over time.
The successful candidate will work across a broad range of client, investment, family office and operational activity, while learning the broader proposition across wealth management, investment management, fiduciary planning, succession planning and multi family office services.
Key responsibilities
Support senior leadership across private wealth, family office and investment related client work.
Assist with client preparation, meeting notes, follow up actions, documentation and coordination across the business.
Support client relationship management across private wealth, family office and investment clients.
Help organise client information, asset data, family structures, estate planning documents, investment documentation and meeting outputs.
Assist with preparation for family office discussions, investment reviews, succession planning meetings and client reporting.
Coordinate with internal teams including compliance, paraplanning, operations, investment management and fiduciary specialists.
Support the development of new client opportunities and help free up senior leadership time for client facing and business development activity.
Develop technical knowledge across investment management, estate planning, fiduciary work, tax aware structuring, retirement planning, offshore wealth and family governance.
Over time, take on increasing client responsibility and build towards a more senior advisory, relationship management or family office role.
Ideal candidate profile
Early career private wealth manager, wealth associate, junior financial adviser, private client associate or technically strong paraplanner looking to move closer to clients.
Preferably 2 to 5 years’ experience across wealth management, financial planning, investments, fiduciary services, private client work or family office support.
BCom, finance, investment, legal, fiduciary or financial planning background would be relevant.
A small existing retail client book would be useful, but is not essential.
Strong technical grounding and ability to work with documentation heavy client matters.
Commercially curious and interested in private wealth, family office and asset management.
Mature, polished and able to work around high quality clients and senior internal stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail, good follow through and comfortable owning actions after meetings.
Ambitious, proactive and interested in building a long term career within private wealth, family office or investment management.

Compensation
Salary range: R420,000 to R540,000 per annum, depending on experience, qualifications and client exposure.
This equates to approximately R35,000 to R45,000 per month.
The structure may include discretionary bonus, commission participation or book related upside depending on the final candidate profile and whether the candidate brings any existing client relationships.
For a candidate with a small transferable book or strong origination capability, a tailored structure can be discussed.
