James & Partners Talent is recruiting a Private Client Manager for an established international wealth management business in Cascais.
This is an advisory and relationship-management position focused on an existing portfolio of private clients. You will provide regular reviews, maintain continuity of service and ensure financial plans remain appropriate as clients’ circumstances, objectives and needs change.
The firm supports British nationals and expatriate families with investment planning, pensions, tax and estate planning. Its Cascais office serves clients across the Lisbon area and wider territories including the Silver Coast, Porto, Northern Portugal and Madeira.
The role
Take responsibility for an established portfolio of private-client relationships.
Conduct thorough financial reviews covering income, expenditure, investments, pensions, objectives and attitude to risk.
Assess whether changes in clients’ lives or financial circumstances require adjustments to their plans.
Explain portfolio performance, income projections and recommendations clearly.
Implement agreed recommendations in conjunction with partners, administration and specialist teams.
Maintain accurate financial plans, client records and suitability documentation.
Keep clients informed about developments relevant to their arrangements.
Identify appropriate additional investments and generate referrals through strong ongoing service.
Coordinate meetings, reviews and follow-up actions to maintain a consistent client experience.
Your background
A minimum Level 4 qualification in Regulated Financial Planning, or a relevant international equivalent.
At least five years’ financial-services experience, primarily within investment advice and wealth management.
A proven record of delivering competent financial advice and maintaining long-term client relationships.
Experience advising clients with approximately £1 million–£5 million in investable assets, or the equivalent in other currencies.
Strong knowledge of investment suitability, risk assessment, pensions and wider financial planning.
Confidence using investment platforms, risk-profiling tools and client-management systems.
Excellent listening skills, attention to detail and a reliable approach to client commitments.
Overseas investment-market experience and familiarity with UK–Portugal financial-planning needs would be advantageous.
The opportunity
The role offers substantial responsibility for ongoing client relationships, supported by partners, administration, paraplanning and specialist technical resources.
Your commercial contribution will come primarily through effective client servicing, appropriate additional investment and referrals. The position will suit an experienced advisor who enjoys detailed planning, regular client contact and managing an established portfolio.
Full in-house training is provided, with reasonable training expenses covered. A transferable client book is not required.
The appointment is linked to the Cascais office. Client meetings and travel will depend on the portfolio assigned, with home working where appropriate and regular office contact. It is not fully remote.
