About My Client

I’m working with a highly respected multi-disciplinary property and planning consultancy operating across the South East. The business has an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality planning advice across a broad range of residential, commercial, leisure and rural projects.

They are a progressive, employee-owned organisation, meaning staff directly benefit from the success of the business through a trust structure and discretionary bonus schemes. The culture is collaborative, professional and people-focused, with genuine emphasis on work/life balance, career development and long-term retention.

Following a recent internal promotion, the team is now looking to appoint an additional Town Planne r to strengthen the planning function and support continued growth.

The Role

This is a well-rounded Senior Planner position offering real autonomy, responsibility and variety. You’ll manage your own caseload of planning projects from start to finish, acting as a key point of contact for clients while working closely with experienced colleagues across the wider business.

Key responsibilities include:
• Managing your own portfolio of planning projects and client relationships
• Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals
• Drafting Planning Statements, Appeal Statements, Local Plan representations and appraisals
• Advising clients on planning strategy and development potential
• Negotiating with local authorities and stakeholders
• Coordinating input from other professional disciplines
• Supporting and contributing to fee proposals and tenders
• Helping to generate new work through strong client and contact relationships

What You’ll Need

• Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (RTPI accredited)
• Chartered RTPI membership
Minimum 2+ years’ experience in development planning or development management
• Strong technical planning knowledge and understanding of current policy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Confident managing projects independently while working collaboratively
• Commercially aware, proactive and well organised
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car

What’s on Offer

• £38,000 – £42,000 basic salary (DOE)
• Annual discretionary bonus
• Second discretionary bonus via the Employee Ownership Trust
• Hybrid working available (role and application dependent)
• 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
• Life insurance, pension and mileage allowance
• Supportive, professional team environment
• Clear long-term career development within an employee-owned business
